2023 OAMA Spring Conference

The Oklahoma Association of Municipal Attorneys (OAMA) Spring Conference will be held this year at the Omni Hotel in Oklahoma City on April 27th and the Oklahoma City Convention Center on April 28th. 

OAMA has presumptive approval from the Oklahoma Bar Association to award three (3) hours CLE of Continuing Legal Education credit for anyone attending the Thursday morning program and four (4) hours of CLE credit for the Thursday afternoon program, with presentations on such topics as:

  • Open Records

  • Ordinances & Codification

  • Open Meetings

  • Planning & Zoning

  • Bidding & Purchasing

  • Litigation Avoidance

  • Policing Issues

  • Development Initiatives

The Oklahoma Association of Municipal Attorneys (OAMA) Fall Conference will be held this year at the Doubletree Hotel in Tulsa on September 15th. 

Six hours of Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits are available, including one hour of ethics, with presentations on such topics as:

  • The New Public Forum

  • Planning & Zoning; Navigating the New Workforce

  • Litigation Avoidance and Best Practices

  • Section 1983 & Federal Lawsuits

  • Lawyers Helping Lawyers 

Conference registration fees are only $150 for attorneys representing cities that are OAMA members. City representatives will be able to register for OAMA membership on-site for a fee based on the population size of the city.  Conference registration fees for attorneys representing cities that are non-OAMA member is $350.   

Come learn more about the OAMA; sign up for the city you represent; enjoy quality CLE presentations earning 6 hours of CLE, and enjoy a day in Tulsa. Hope to see you there!

2022 IMLA Mid-Year Seminar

IMLA is planning on holding a hybrid Mid-Year Seminar April 8-11, 2022. It will be in person in Washington, DC and will offer all in-person CLE programming virtually for those who are unable to attend in person. All attendees (both in-person and virtual) will receive a copy of all available recordings.

Due to the success of our fully virtual program, we are now offering a virtual option alongside our in-person event. We will offer all in-person CLE programming to virtual attendees. You may sign up now for either in-person or virtual attendance.

We are strongly suggesting that all attendees wear a mask while indoors at the event (unless eating or drinking).

  • We strongly suggest that all attendees, regardless of vaccination status, take a COVID test shortly before coming to the event. (Either antigen or PCR).

  • If an attendee is exhibiting any COVID symptoms in the days prior to traveling to the event, we ask that you take a test to confirm it is not COVID. We ask that you do this out of respect for your fellow attendees and IMLA staff, even if you know you have seasonal allergies or some other recurring issue that would explain the symptom. You may order free tests from the federal government here: https://www.covidtests.gov/.

  • If an attendee exhibits symptoms once they are at the event, we ask that they isolate in their room and contact an IMLA staff member for further instructions.

IMLA University Cities General Counsel Summit

The International Municipal Lawyers Association is hosting a full day summit to focus on issues unique to cities which are also the home to a college or university. This is an inaugural event that will allow local government attorneys to come together in an informal environment to share experiences and learn from the successes of peer cities in handling common challenges such as:

  • boom in "luxury" student housing construction

  • game day rentals (VRBO, AirBnB, HomeAway, etc.)

  • disruptive technology

  • controlled substance regulation/compliance/enforcement
